In 2003, his 8th graders won the AAU Division II National Basketball Championship with a team comprised of players exclusively from Brooklyn. He has placed several players in high level Division 1 basketball programs and continues to mentor and coach young kids today. Coach Sheares is a community leader who is at the helm or the Brooklyn Ballers Classic, a Summer youth tourney in which over 20 teams with players from age 10-18 participate in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn in front of coaches offering scholarships to High School and college.
